Many people in current years are steering toward a healthier lifestyle and attitude toward food. This trend has grown mainly due to the frightening growth of health issues that are directly linked to poor eating habits and an unhealthy lifestyle. Heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes can all be linked to the unhealthy lifestyle most Americans live, regardless of family history.

These health factors along with several others are the main reasons why so many people are jumping on the healthy lifestyle band wagon. People are eating in a more healthy way, increasing their physical activities and becoming aware or holistic and natural approaches to common problems. One of the most widely recognized methods of health practices aimed at reaching fitness goals is the Vegan Detox Diet.

The vegan detox diet is a method by which to rid your body of harmful toxins that have been building up in your system for years. In the vegan detox diet ridding meat from your diet is the key to flushing toxins from your body. These toxins are believed to cause many diseases, especially colon cancer. The vegan detox diet usually consists of nuts, whole grains, fresh fruits and herbs. Some people choose to include eggs and dairy, while others do not.

Some critics question the effectiveness of the vegan detox diet. Programs such as this usually claim to be quick fixes that last a week or two. A three week detoxification process could be potentially harmful rather than helpful to people who try the vegan detox diet according to Dr. Peter Pressman of the University of Southern California. Dr. Pressman suggests that purging the body of environmental toxins is not a fast process. Forcibly expelling these toxins can actually be dangerous as you are forcing your body to work above its natural capabilities. Healthful results could only be obtained through a consist regimen.

There are many detox programs around these days. It is easy to fall prey to the promises of relief or an instant cure, but don’t be fooled. It is wise to do research and to speak with medical professionals before subjecting your body to potentially dangerous practices. The best way to a healthy lifestyle is the good old fasioned way. It may take time, but your efforts will be well rewarded.

Eliminating bodily wastes, undigested food, parasites and other toxins from the body, is the primary function of the colon. This very important part of the body?s digestive system is responsible for keeping the body free from toxins in order for it to function effectively. Having an excessive amount of toxins present in the body will make it more difficult for the colon to efficiently eliminate waste matters and potentially bring about the onset of diseases, malnutrition, other health risks and life-threatening ailments.

The medical community supports colon detox as a method which will help the colon to function as it was intended by nature. The colon detox process removes toxins, mucus and waste materials that build-up over time and cultivate in the colon. Part of the unhealthy build-up in the colon can be attributed to the improper digestion of food. Although the concept sounds like a simple one, the colon detox process isn’t necessarily as easy as it sounds. Nonetheless, medical experts agree that colon detoxification can help the body maintain a natural balance between good and bad bacteria, and also aid in the production and proper absorption of enzymes and vitamins. Completed studies have documented such advantages and benefits of colon detoxification as clearer skin, stronger and more energetic bodies, as well as a healthier medical outlook.

There are two primary ways used to detox the colon; a natural method and an artificial process. The natural method is to adopt a healthier and more nutritious diet and lifestyle. On the natural colon detox diet, by monitoring and/or restricting specific amounts and types of food, one can foster a healthier environment in the colon. Foods rich in fiber such as fruits, legumes, and seeds are strongly recommended for their natural cleaning qualities.

The second method used by medical experts as a colon detox, to flush the waste out of the body, is one which can also be used in cases of severe constipation. This particular process of colon detoxification utilizes four to seven gallons of temperature regulated and filtered water. The water is introduced through a tube and inserted into the body through the rectum. It is to be noted that regular use of this process is not encouraged as it can potentially cause damage to the large intestines.

The advantages of colon detox are beneficial and vital to the proper functioning of the human body. But, regardless of which colon detoxification method is eventually chosen to help free the intestines of parasites and other toxic residue, the most important piece of advice that can be given, is to seek the care and assistance of qualified medical personnel.

Mornings should start with drinking 8 ounces of water with half a lemon squeezed into it. This stimulates your digestive juices. Meals should consist of whole grains plus three servings of fruits and vegetables. You need to have one of those servings raw.

Besides the above food requirements you will need to drink an infusion at least twice for flushing out the liver and kidneys. The recipe is as follows:

16 oz. fennel, chamomile, or dandelion tea

Pure vegetable juice such as carrot or beetroot

1 clove fresh garlic
