Many people in current years are steering toward a healthier lifestyle and attitude toward food. This trend has grown mainly due to the frightening growth of health issues that are directly linked to poor eating habits and an unhealthy lifestyle. Heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes can all be linked to the unhealthy lifestyle most Americans live, regardless of family history.
These health factors along with several others are the main reasons why so many people are jumping on the healthy lifestyle band wagon. People are eating in a more healthy way, increasing their physical activities and becoming aware or holistic and natural approaches to common problems. One of the most widely recognized methods of health practices aimed at reaching fitness goals is the Vegan Detox Diet.
The vegan detox diet is a method by which to rid your body of harmful toxins that have been building up in your system for years. In the vegan detox diet ridding meat from your diet is the key to flushing toxins from your body. These toxins are believed to cause many diseases, especially colon cancer. The vegan detox diet usually consists of nuts, whole grains, fresh fruits and herbs. Some people choose to include eggs and dairy, while others do not.
Some critics question the effectiveness of the vegan detox diet. Programs such as this usually claim to be quick fixes that last a week or two. A three week detoxification process could be potentially harmful rather than helpful to people who try the vegan detox diet according to Dr. Peter Pressman of the University of Southern California. Dr. Pressman suggests that purging the body of environmental toxins is not a fast process. Forcibly expelling these toxins can actually be dangerous as you are forcing your body to work above its natural capabilities. Healthful results could only be obtained through a consist regimen.
There are many detox programs around these days. It is easy to fall prey to the promises of relief or an instant cure, but don’t be fooled. It is wise to do research and to speak with medical professionals before subjecting your body to potentially dangerous practices. The best way to a healthy lifestyle is the good old fasioned way. It may take time, but your efforts will be well rewarded.
